Memorial Hall

Tasked with rehabilitating one of the most historically and culturally significant buildings in Calais, R. Edwards & Co., in partnership with Engineering Ventures, provided architectural and engineering services to return Memorial Hall (c. 1886) to operation after being condemned in 2014 after having fallen into severe disrepair and in need of an entirely new 1st floor structure, among other needs.  Phase I, completed in 2021, saw the replacement of the 1st floor structure, structural upgrades to the 2nd floor, the construction of a new ADA-compliant ramp and deck, as well as the installation of all new rough plumbing and electrical systems.  Phase II, completed in 2023, saw the construction of the historically-replicated 2-story porch on the east facade, the completion of two new ADA-compliant restrooms, installation of a new kitchen, as well as the complete aesthetic rehabilitation of the interior and exterior (e.g. siding repair and painting, interior painting, hardwood floor installation, etc.).
